The prophetic inspiration
Rainbow is God's first covenant sign of His promise of everlasting hope for mankind after the great flood, that never will He flood the earth again. It is a picture of The Hope, Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son that He sent as the Redeemer of mankind because God loves us so much (John 3:16).
Without Jesus, we would be without hope, and we would die in our sin and perish, for the wage of sin is death. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a righteous man for a sinful man. But there was and is no one man righteous for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Only God Himself could redeem mankind.
So He sent Jesus, His only begotten Son, to be born as a man to redeem us. A man with the blood of God, spotless sinless blood. The only blood that can pay for the sins of the world and save mankind. The only righteous man there is.
Because of Jesus we who have believed in Him we are one in Christ and He in us. This is the fulfillment of God's promise depicted by the rainbow that with everlasting kindness will He have mercy on us (Isaiah 54:8-10). We now have a Father who loves us as He loves Jesus. That is why we can always choose joy: we know all things will work together for good in our lives.
