What are MALKA mugs and plates made of?

Each of MALKA mug is made from the finest bone china, not porcelain.

Fine bone china is thinner and lighter in weight than porcelain. It also has warmer hues, whereas porcelain tends to be brighter. Compared to bone china, porcelain tends to be significantly heavier and more brittle, which can lead to chipping.

What makes MALKA mugs so special?

We only use the finest quality of bone china, with 45% of bovine bone ash content. For the gold range, we use real gold of imported goldwater from Germany with high gold content ranging between 12-18%.

Each item was also designed with original design and living words that we believe will bring life and light to your home.

What is the difference between bone china and fine bone china?

Bone china, composed of kaolin, feldspar and quartz, has the greatest strength and resilience of all ceramics with the addition of bone ash to its raw materials. The texture and appearance is opaque, and its colour is snow white.

High quality fine bone china contains at least 30% bone ash. This is why bone china is so expensive because of the pricier materials.

How to tell the quality of bone china?

The quality of bone china is determined by the total amount of bone ash included in the raw materials. High quality fine bone china contains at least 30% bone ash, enabling thin, walled pieces to be made with a more delicate appearance and translucency compared to porcelain, and allowing for greater chip resistance and durability.

Our mugs have more than 45% of bone content with bovine bone meal imported from Britain.

How do I know if MALKA bone china is real?

Here’s how to test its authenticity: Hold a piece of bone china up to a light and place your hand behind it. If it’s real, you should be able to see your fingers through the translucent china.

Are the gold trimming of the handles and lids real gold?

Yes, they are made of imported goldwater from Germany, with high gold content between 12-18%. Each piece of gold MALKA mug and plate was hand painted, not factory produced.

Do your mugs or plates contain heavy metals?

No, our mugs and plates are free of lead, cadmium, and other heavy metals. They have also passed FDA and SGS certification.

What are your wine glasses made of?

Our wine glasses are made of high quality, lead-free crystal.

Caring for your MALKA item

Can I wash my MALKA mug or plate in a dishwasher?

We do not recommend using dishwasher to wash our products, instead do wash each piece separately by hands, using only warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft sponge.

As these are premium items, doing so will ensure usage durability and longevity for you.

How do I remove coffee or tea stain?

Instead of using harsh detergent, we recommend using lemonade or vinegar mixed with warm water and soak it for a maximum 30 minutes.

Can I use my MALKA mugs or plates in the oven?

Yes, you can for the classic range, but it's not advisable for the gold range to protect the gold trimmings of the handle and the lid.
