There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28

When we received Jesus Christ as our Saviour and Lord, we died with Him and we were resurrected in Him, having our souls made one with His Spirit. Paul calls this our spirit man, the inner man, all things are made new, and old things have passed. This is the truth of the miracle of salvation in Christ Jesus. We might or might not feel anything has changed, but in God’s eyes, which is the only real reality, the above took place.

Yet being still on earth, we are confined in our natural bodies, which define us as either male or female. Think about our bodies as our clothes, the Bible likens them to vessels, and they belong to the Lord because He has bought us back with His blood.

I am establishing that truth because often when I share with my friends that we are queens, the same question arises each time, “Where in the Bible it is mentioned so?”

Let us look at Revelations chapter one:

Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Just like in so many places in the Bible, the word woman or women was not specifically used, but instead, the word used was man or men, denoting a general word used to address everyone, similarly, the word daughters was often not used, but instead the word sons. Likewise, the word queen or queens, instead, the word king or kings is used.

The Bible says the Lord has made us queens, not that we will be, we are.

Queen, the Helpmeet

God created man in His own image and he made them male and female because they would be the picture of His Son, Jesus, and His church. The same goes for why God created marriage, it is the most sacred union between a man and a woman to become one flesh and bear fruits, again a picture of Christ (the husband) and us His church (the wife), the ones He died for. We have shared in great detail about this in the King article.

God designed man to be the head, just like He has made Christ to be the head of all things (Colossians 1:18), and God created the woman for the man, to be his helpmeet. And so, the man is the image and glory of God, as Christ is, and the woman is the glory of the man (1 Corinthians 11:9), as the church is. That is why throughout the Bible, since even in the Old Covenant, when God dealt with a house, God dealt with the husband or the king. The man is answerable to God and the wife, or the queen, is represented by her husband.

The word helpmeet is the same word that is used for the Holy Spirit, which means one called to the another’s side, specifically to help and to aid. That is why Eve was made out of Adam’s side and God placed her on his side. And here’s another amazing truth, to be able to help, we must have what is needed to help, which means God has designed us with an abundance of gifts and talents so we can function in our design.

Chess is a game I feel represents this relationship. I always wondered why the king only has single move, while the queen can move wherever she wants. Surely, it should be the opposite, right?

Then the Lord began to show me why.

He brought me to Proverbs 31 about the virtuous woman. I still chuckle whenever I read it. The passage dedicates one verse for the husband: of him sitting at the gate with the elders of the city, denoting that he is someone who is respectable and of power, while the wife, she is what I would call a superwoman today. “Lord, does she sleep?” I teased the Lord every time I read it for she is productive, day or night. She is an amazing wife, a wise mother, a great boss, a sharp businesswoman, and a charitable woman!

How is that even possible, I asked. Like most of you, I read this and tried to relate to this woman at a personal level, but then the Lord showed me that it is also a picture of His church.

As the head, The Lord is where all our provisions flow down from, whether it is love, peace, joy, faith, miracle-working power, or physical strengths and financial provision for our daily needs on this earth. As our Heavenly husband, we have what He has, and He entrusted us with all that are His. That is why the woman in Proverbs 31 does. He has access to what her husband has and she multiplies them.

Does not that remind you of the parable of the talents? A man travelling into a far country, called his servants and delivered unto them his goods. Unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability. When he is back, he expects the talents to have multiplied.

Queen, Reigning with the King

As His redeemed, we are to reign by beholding the Lord as our true husband as depicted in Romans chapter seven, we are to take the authority He has given us when we were born again and be fruitful (productive) in good works, just like the virtuous woman in the Proverbs 31. The word virtuous only appears another time in the book of Ruth and it means mighty, strong. A virtuous woman in the eyes of the Lord is she who is fruitful, never idle, and evident in good works.

She can only do so because she receives from her husband, all the resources and the means to do what her husband needs her to. This is what the Lord asked me to convey, that we can only work out what He has supplied us with. After the Lord showed Proverbs 31 from His eyes, I did not feel it as a demand anymore, but instead, I felt intrigued and excited over what the possibilities of what I can be fruitful in.

As His church, we have not only been bestowed all spiritual blessings in Christ by the Father (Ephesians 1), but also been given spiritual gifts, different gifts but of one Spirit. I don't think we as His church have fully realised how rich and well supplied we are.

You may not know what your gifts are, but if you are Christ's, you have gifts, and as you continue to draw near to Him, He will speak to you about your gifts and your calling in this lifetime. I have met brothers and sisters from different churches, and while they look like mere, normal people, when they minister, even unto the unbelievers, I watched before my eyes the sick got healed upon laying of their hands. In other occasions, I have witnessed words of knowledge being released to the very accuracy of the recipient. We all have gifts, because that is what His words say, and He is not a respector of a person.

But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ... and he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers. For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Ephesians 4:7-16

A few years ago, on one afternoon, as I was seeking the Father in my quiet time, I saw in my spirit a vast kingdom. Within this kingdom, there are myriads of smaller kingdoms, each has been marked by the Father as an inheritance for His children. Each of these smaller kingdoms is unique and beautiful in its own way and all these kingdoms co-exist with each other well, never compete. It was impressed upon my heart that this inheritance is both for the life we have now on earth, which could be your ministry, your business, or your career, as well as for the life to come, reigning with the Lord.

His will for His church is that we are to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. The blessedness we have received from the Lord, the right standing with God and unlimited favours: having influence with God, is to be used for the good on this earth, making a difference wherever we are being placed. We were designed to be blessed and to be blessings because as God’s daughters, we all have our inheritances.

So here's my prayers for you, queens, that may the Lord enlighten the eyes of your understanding as He does mine, that you may know what the hope of his calling for you, the riches of His inheritance for you among the saints, and the exceeding greatness of His miracle working power in your life toward you who believe. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, amen.

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

She seeks wool, and flax, and works willingly with her hands.

She is like the merchants' ships; she brings her food from afar.

She rises also while it is yet night, and gives meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

She considers a field, and buys it: with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.

She girds her loins with strength, and strengthens her arms.

She perceives that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

She lays her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

She stretches out her hand to the poor; yea, she reaches forth her hands to the needy.

She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

She makes herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.

She makes fine linen, and sells it; and delivers girdles unto the merchant.

Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

She opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

She looks well to the ways of her household, and eats not the bread of idleness.

Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.

Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excell them all.

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
